Josh Howard Apologizes

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Finally! Josh Howard has brought balance to the Force. Maybe NOW the Mavericks can make some headway. They’ll need all the focus and positive energy they can muster against a Western Conference that only got stronger in the offseason.
Stay tuned.

Best Mavericks By Salary

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Let’s take a quick look at the Dallas Mavericks’ roster in light of salaries. You can tell me if it makes sense or not. Let’s start with the top paid salary of the ‘07-’08 season.
Jason Kidd ($19.7 million)
Dirk Nowitzki ($16.3 million)
Erick Dampier ($10.6 million)
Josh Howard ($9.5 million)
Jason Terry ($8.9 million)

Rick Carlisle and Other Changes

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Rick Carlisle coming in to take over as head coach for the Mav’s is just the first inevitable domino that will fall this off season. I think Carlisle is a great choice for the Dallas. Both restructuring the roster and implementing a new vision and identity will be Carlisle’s biggest challenges. Do they restructure again [...]

Yet Another Banner Design Coming

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

If the rumors of a complete overhaul aren’t grossly exaggerated, MavsUpdate will be needing a new banner image yet again. The Mavs are sure to make some roster changes in addition to the head coach. One Bucks blogger is calling for a Josh Howard / Jerry Stackhouse trade for Michael Redd. That’s an interesting thought. [...]

The Win Means ALMOST Nothing

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Before some of you overreact to the Dallas Mavericks win last night, let’s settle down and gain some perspective. This Los Angeles Clippers team was bad. I mean BAD. And they still stayed in the game until the end.
Surprise of the game? Easy. Jason Kidd led all scoring. When does THAT happen? Kidd scored 27 [...]

Mavs Lose! Mavs Lose!

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Can you hear the quasi-dramatic tone in Randy Galloway’s voice? I can. Get ready for overreaction Wednesday. The visiting Los Angeles Lakers pull out a one point win over Dallas. The entire game belonged to Kobe and the Lakers. They owned Dirk and the Mavs by a solid 12+ point lead most of the game.
The [...]

Quick Shots

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Just like the Mavs finished up the Grizz in quick fashion, I’ll be knocking down some Quick Shots of my own:
- Eddie Jones appears to be the definition of ‘fouls in bunches’. He can’t stay on the floor long enough to contribute amassing fouls 2-3 at a time, it seems. Not that the savvy [...]

The Jerry Stackhouse Problem

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

Over his 13 year career Jerry Stackhouse has proven himself a consistent offensive presence in the NBA tallying over 15,000 points and an 18.8 points per game average. He’s been the Dallas Mavericks 6th Man going on 4 years providing immediate scoring off the bench, and lockerroom leadership. He’s a valuable member of a squad [...]

WAKE UP CALL

Monday, December 17th, 2007

The Dallas Cowboys are playing excellent football right now. This is why nobody is really noticing how bad the Mavericks are doing right now. The Mavericks are 17 - 9 right now. More than half of those losses have came from Eastern Conference teams. I don’t know what is more embarrassing [...]

Not A Time To Panic

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

The Dallas Mavericks have started their season in a less than spectacular fashion, but it’s far from worrisome. The team is comprised of All-Star quality performers, and roll players that are devoted to team play. They are capable of explosive offense and shut down defense, and have one of the most intense coaches in NBA [...]
